China Rockfish
The China Rockfish is a rockfish native to the Pacific Ocean off western North America. China rockfish have a dark blue or black body that is mottled with yellow and a broad yellow stripe running along their side. They are solitary and usually live in spaces between rocks. They are often found in relatively shallow water, 10- to 400-feet deep, on rocky reefs. They tend to hang upside down in crevices and caves, often keeping to a very small territory. They are named after the preference that Chinese immigrants in California had for the fish. Great taco meat and can go well with any recipe. Also a great source of protein.
